SHAWN MCLEMORE
Gospel recording artist, Shawn McLemore, grew up in Los Angeles, California. He grew up in church under strong tutelage. McLemore graduated from West LA University with a Bachelor’s of Arts in musical education, and eventually got his Doctorates degree from Houston Bible College, which he calls one of his proudest moments. Since McLemore was a child he felt a calling on his life to spread the word of God, and he went on to do just that and more.
Having been exposed to music while growing up in the church, the naturally talented singer became inspired to sing at an early age. McLemore’s pursuit of music and spreading the word of God led him to become a nationally recognized gospel recording artist. He started his music career with the release of Wait on Him by Verity Records on July 16, 1997 and this placed on the Billboard magazine Gospel Albums chart. In conjunction with that success, McLemore has released his spiritually uplifting fourth album, Any Minute Now, One Percent Miracle, on the Black Smoke Music label. The album speaks to many of life’s challenges and triumphs and leaves listeners with a stronger sense of hope, motivation and inspiration.
In addition to his musical career, McLemore is an accomplished stage actor, staring in productions that have toured across the country. He has been in several large stage productions: Tyler Perry’s If Loving You is Wrong and Hell Has no Fury Like a Women Scorned, Come Out of the Rain, I Need a Man, Momma Don’t, Don’t Get God Started, Sneaky, Momma I’m Sorry, Listen to Your Woman, Friends and Lovers Casino – Confessions, and the hit gang film Colors starring Sean Pen and Robert Duval to name a few. One of his biggest roles that he is most proud of is role in “Baby Hold On To Me”, where he played the world renowned singer-songwriter Gerald Levert.
Today, McLemore continues to proclaim the indelible Gospel through music. Being a business enthusiast, he established a vocal school, The Vocal Shop, in 2010 after being asked by several people to help better their skills and talents in music.
Aside from all of his accomplishments, McLemore finds his greatest joy in his family. He has been married to his wife, Rhonda McLemore, for 25 years, and they share daughter, ShaRon McLemore (21).
